Founded in 1985 as a 3/8-mile clay oval across from Canadian Fertilizers, the Medicine Hat Speedway moved to its current paved location in 1993. Driven by early organizers Wayne Campbell, Ian Thomas, John Brink, and founding president Sterling Adams, our mission remains unchanged: to deliver top-quality short track racing in a family-friendly, grassroots setting.
Racers from across Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan have battled it out on our track for decades, chasing checkered flags and unforgettable moments and continue to do so to this day. Built and maintained entirely by volunteers - a proud tradition that continues today - we are supported by incredible community effort and local business contributions.
As the only paved oval track in Central and Southern Alberta, our regular racing lineup features Elite Street Stock, Hobby Stock, Mini Cups, Baby Grands, and the V6 starter class. We host fan-favourite events like the annual Hit to Pass and Demo Derby, and are always working on bringing exciting new shows and attractions to the track.
We’re a non-profit, member-run club that thrives because of our dedicated volunteers, racers, and supporters. Thank you - and get ready for an exciting season at the Medicine Hat Speedway!
